Congreso Constituyente terminates (29 Mar 1823) the functions of executive power which had existed since 19 May 1822 and resolves to appoint an executive body but postpones the election to 31 Mar 1823 when Bravo, Victoria, and Negrete are elected to form the Supremo Poder Ejecutivo; Negrete is sworn in, the others being absent; on 1 Apr 1823 Michelena and Domínguez are appointed and sworn in as alternates (suplentes); Guerrero being appointed and sworn in later. As evident from the first documents signed by the members of this body, Supremo Poder Ejecutivo is constituted 2 Apr 1823. |

A decree of appointment of the Supremo Poder Ejecutivo prescribes monthly rotation of the presidency in order of appointment without specifying the date for taking office ("que alternarán cada mes en la presidencia por el orden de su nombramiento"). In absence of the records of proceedings, the terms of office of Presidente del Supremo Poder Ejecutivo are presumed to have commenced on the first day of a calendar month, except for 8 Dec 1823. The order of succession is confirmed by the names appearing on the decrees passed by Supremo Poder Ejecutivo. |
