  1. The adoption of the style and titles was authorized by the Royal Titles Act, No. 22 of 1953, passed by the Parliament of Ceylon. The change was effected by a proclamation issued by command of the Queen on 28 May 1953 (effective on publication in Ceylon Government Gazette, Extra, No. 10,534, 4 Jun 1953, p. 867).
