Greece: Presidents of the Political Committee for National Liberation: 1944
The Political Committee for National Liberation was constituted in the village of Viniani (region of Evrytania, Central Greece) and directed the armed resistance against the Hellenic State.

- The founding act of the Political Committee for National Liberation (PCNL) was dated 10 Mar 1944, while the swearing-in ceremony took place on 12 Mar 1944. The distribution of responsibilities among the PCNL members, including the president, was approved at the committee's second meeting on 13 Mar 1944.
- Svōlos was admitted as a PCNL member on 18 Apr 1944 and confirmed as president on 19 Apr 1944. In September 1944, he accepted the position of Minister of Finance in the government appointed by King Geōrgios II and delegated his functions to Vice President Emmanouēl Mantakas (Εμμανουήλ Μάντακας), who had been elected on 27 Aug 1944 and presided over meetings from 5 Sep 1944 until the PCNL was dissolved on 5 Nov 1944.
