[1] The joint session of the Central Committee, USSR Council of Ministers and the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet, which was held two hours prior to Stalin's death on 5 Mar 1953, elected Malenkov chairman of the Council of Ministers without official dismissal of Stalin, who was in coma at the moment, but it left Stalin's name in the list of Presidium members. Later on 7 Mar 1953, Pravda published the list with Stalin's name omitted.
[2] In a number of cases, an agenda of the Central Committee Plenum was circulated with a draft resolution requiring individual assent or comment by the participants. This was called approval by questionnaire (oprosom).
