- The members of the first Executive Committee were elected at a public meeting held at Champoeg on 5 Jul 1843 and immediately took the oath of office. The second Committee was elected at a general election on 14 May 1844, and two of its members, Stewart and Russell, took the oath of office on 25 May 1844. The third member, Bailey, was sworn in on 3 Jun 1844.
