  1. The election of Meshech Weare was declared upon the counting of the electoral vote at the joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives on 3 Jun 1784. As he was unable to take the oath of office immediately, Woodbury Langdon was elected Senior Senator on 8 Jun 1784 and exercised the functions of President of the State until Weare's inauguration on 15 Jun 1784.
  2. The resignation of Langdon was submitted to the General Court on 22 Jan 1789, and Pickering, as Senior Senator, assumed the functions of President of the State in accordance with the Constitution. The use of the style President of the State of New Hampshire was authorized by a concurrent resolution of the General Court on 24 Jan 1789.
