The Basque version of the royal decree-law of 4 Jan 1978, providing for the establishment of Consejo General del País Vasco / Eusko Kontseilu Nagusia, referred to its presiding officer as Presidentea. The Standing Orders approved on 20 Mar 1978, referred to the same office as Lehendakari. The style of Rubial in legislation issued by the Council was invariably recorded as Presidentea. After the election and swearing-in of Garaikoetxea, the Basque version in the promulgation of legislative acts was changed to Lehendakari. |
