After a period of clandestine activity, the Slovak National Council was officially established at the meeting in Banská Bystrica on 1 Sep 1944 and directed the armed resistance against the Slovak Republic on the territory of central Slovakia, where the Czechoslovak Republic was partially restored.

  2. The functions of the Slovak National Council were transferred to its presidency following a decision approved on 23 Oct 1944. Shortly thereafter, the commander-in-chief of the insurgent armed forces signed an order on 27 Oct 1944, terminating army operations and directing the transition to guerrilla warfare.
