Slovakia: Presidents of the National Council: 1944
After a period of clandestine activity, the Slovak National Council was officially established at the meeting in Banská Bystrica on 1 Sep 1944 and directed the armed resistance against the Slovak Republic on the territory of central Slovakia, where the Czechoslovak Republic was partially restored.

- The functions of the Slovak National Council were transferred to its presidency following a decision approved on 23 Oct 1944. Shortly thereafter, the commander-in-chief of the insurgent armed forces signed an order on 27 Oct 1944, terminating army operations and directing the transition to guerrilla warfare.
