25 Dec 1991 the name of the state is changed to Rossijskaja Federacija (Rossija) in accordance with a law passed by the Supreme Council of the Russian SFSR on 25 Dec 1991 (RSFSR Supreme Council Records, No. 2, 9 Jan 1992, Art. 62)

21 May 1992 the Russian Federation is proclaimed a sovereign federative state, all references to the Russian SFSR are replaced with "Russian Federation - Russia," the equipollence of the names Rossijskaja Federacija and Rossija is confirmed in accordance with amendments to the Constitution of the Russian SFSR approved by a law passed by the Congress of People's Deputies of the Russian Federation on 21 Apr 1992, effective on publication (Russia Supreme Council Records, No. 20, 21 May 1992, Art. 1084) [1]
25 Dec 1993 the equipollence of the names Rossijskaja Federacija and Rossija is confirmed in the Constitution of the Russian Federation (Konstitucija Rossijskoj Federacii | Конституция Российской Федерации) adopted by a popular vote on 12 Dec 1993, the results of the vote are certified by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation on 20 Dec 1993, effective on publication on 25 Dec 1993 (Rossijskaja Gazeta, No. 237, 25 Dec 1993, pp. 3-6)
