- The declaration gave official recognition to the republican form of government existing in Russia and proclaimed the Russian Republic. During the period when the Provisional Government was in office, the style (Rossijskaja Respublika) was used along with alternatives: Gosudarstvo Rossijskoe (Государство Российское), Rossijskoe Gosudarstvo (Российское Государство) and Rossija (Россия).
- The styles continued in official use to 12/25 Jan 1918 when Russia was proclaimed the republic of councils of workers', soldiers' and peasants' deputies in accordance with a declaration approved by the All-Russian Congress of Councils on 12/25 Jan 1918 and 18/31 Jan 1918.
- The members of the Provisional Government were arrested at 02:10 26 Oct/8 Nov 1917 (misdated in Izvestija, No. 208: "On the 25th of October at 2:10").
