Duchy of Warsaw: Polity Style: 1807-1815

12 Jul 1807 most of the provinces which, on 1 Jan 1772, formed part of the Kingdom of Poland and had since been incorporated into Prussia were given in possession to the King of Saxony under the title of the Duchy of Warsaw in accordance with a treaty signed by the representatives of France and Prussia on 9 Jul 1807 in Tilsit, effective upon the exchange of ratifications on 12 Jul 1807 in Königsberg (Moniteur universel, No. 206, 25 Jul 1807, pp. 802-803; Martens 1817, 8:661-668)
17 Sep 1807 the civil authority over "all the countries, cities and territories which are to form the Duchy of Warsaw" is transferred from the representative of France to the representative of the King of Saxony by an instrument of transfer signed in Berlin on 17 Sep 1807 as required by Art. 1 of a convention concluded between France and Saxony on 22 Jul 1807 (Gazette de Varsovie, No. 127, 25 Sep 1807, p. 1)

9 May 1815 the Duchy of Warsaw, with the exception of the Free City of Kraków and certain other territories, was incorporated into Russia in accordance with a treaty signed by the representatives of the King of Prussia and the Emperor of Russia on 21 Apr/3 May 1815 in Vienna, effective upon the exchange of ratifications on 27 Apr/9 May 1815 (Gesetzsammlung für die Königlich-Preußischen Staaten, No. 11, 1815, pp. 128-157)
