The name of the state was changed in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia which came into operation on the adoption by the Constituent Assembly of Yugoslavia on 31 Jan 1946. The name of the Montenegrin National Assembly was changed to the National Assembly of the People's Republic of Montenegro in accordance with a law passed by the Presidency of the National Assembly on 15 Feb 1946.
