Gutiérrez was elected by the Sovereign Revolutionary Convention (Soberana Convención Revolucionaria), historically known as the Convention of Aguascalientes, on 1 Nov 1914 and took the oath of office on 6 Nov 1914. He later abandoned the capital, Mexico City, relocating to San Luis Potosí, in defiance of the Convention's authority, and remained in office until 2 Jun 1915.
  2. Lagos Cházaro was elected by Sovereign Revolutionary Convention on 9 Jun 1915 and immediately took the oath of office. However, the handover ceremony was held occurred only on 10 Jun 1915. González Garza issued his final official act—a proclamation dated 10 Jun 1915—addressed to governors and other state officials, confirming the change in executive authority.
