12 Mar 1968 the Constitution of Mauritius (contained in the Schedule to the Mauritius Independence Order 1968) came into operation on the appointed day (12 Mar 1968) in accordance with the Mauritius Independence Order 1968 made on 4 Mar 1968, effective on publication in the Mauritius Government Gazette as specified by section 1.2 (Statutory Instruments, 1968, part I, section 2, pp. 1871-1948; Mauritius Government Gazette, Legal Supplement, No. 30, 6 Mar 1968)
