14 Oct 1958 territory of Madagascar is proclaimed a member state of the Communauté (French Community) under the name of République Malgache (Malagasy Republic) in accordance with a constitutional law passed by the Congrès des Assemblées provinciales of Madagascar on 14 Oct 1958 and promulgated the same day (Madagascar Official Gazette, No. 1, 18 Oct 1958, pp. 2313-2315)
