3 Aug 1940 the Lithuanian SSR is admitted to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in accordance with a law passed by the Supreme Council (Verhovnjy Sovet | Верховный Совет) of the USSR on 3 Aug 1940 (USSR Supreme Council Proceedings 1940 – 7th Session, pp. 91-92, 186)
