- In accordance with a law passed by the National Constituent Assembly (Asamblea Nacional Constituyente) on 3 Dec 1985 (effective 14 Jan 1986), the President of the Republic takes office on January 14 after his/her election. The inauguration of Arévalo was delayed to the early hours of 15 Jan 2024 when he took the oath of office.
