Greece: Presidents of the Provisional Democratic Government: 1947-1949
The Provisional Democratic Government was constituted in northwestern Greece on 23 Dec 1947 and directed the armed resistance against the Kingdom of Greece.

- Vapheiadēs and Iōannidēs were appointed as President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Provisional Democratic Government (PDG) in a founding act issued on 23 Dec 1947. Vapheiadēs was absent from Greece when his resignation was announced on 4 Feb 1949, and on that same day, a PDG communiqué transferred the presidential functions to Vice-President Iōannidēs, who nevertheless used the style Proedros (President) in legislation until the appointment of Partsalidēs.
