El Salvador: Heads of State: 1898-1962In accordance with the provisions of Art. 80 of the Constitution of 1886 (effective 1886-1939, 1944-1948), and Art. 91 of the Constitution of 1939 (effective 1939-1944), the exercise of executive power is vested in a citizen bearing the title Presidente de la República ("El Poder Ejecutivo será ejercido por un ciudadano que recibirá el título de Presidente de la República..."). The Constitution of 1950 routinely refers to the office as Presidente de la República. The actual use of the styles is as recorded below. |
