Daluege was appointed by a decree of the Führer of 30 May 1942 to exercise the functions of the Reich Protector during the absence of Heydrich. After the death of Heydrich on 4 Jun 1942, Daluege continued in office until the discharge of von Neurath and appointment of Frick on 20 Aug 1943.
