[1] Abandoned the capital, Chang'an, after a military defeat by the insurgent army (between 11 Oct 25 and 16 Oct 25), and fled to Gaoling (now in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province) where he was imprisoned. Returned to Chang'an (Nov/Dec 25) where he surrendered the imperial seal to the rebels.
