[1] Established and operating in Iquique, North Chile (to 31 Aug 1891), in opposition to the government in Santiago.
[2] The resignations of Alessandri were twice rejected by the Senado (9 Sep 1924) and Cámara de Diputados (9 Sep 1924 and 10 Sep 1924), voting in favour of granting him a six-month leave of absence. After the dissolution of the Congreso, the resignation was accepted by a decree of the Junta de Gobierno dated 12 Sep 1924.
[3] Assumed the functions of chief executive pending the acceptance of resignation of Alessandri who had taken refuge in a foreign ambassy at 03:00 9 Sep 1924 and departed from Chile on 10 Sep 1924.
[4] Acting for the absent incumbent 7 Apr 1927 - 9 May 1927.
[5] Ibáñez transferred the functions of chief executive to President of the Senado Opazo on 26 Jul 1931 and departed from Chile on 27 Jul 1931. The request of Ibáñez to grant him the leave of absence was approved by the Senado, but was rejected by the Cámara de Diputados (26 Jul 1931). A resolution passed by the Cámara de Diputados on 27 Jul 1931 declared the existence of an impediment to the exercise of the functions of office by the President of the Republic. The resolution was concurred in by the Senado on 29 Jul 1931.
