  1. Plavšić and Koljević were the Serbian members of the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who were jointly entrusted with the functions of the President of the Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with a Constitutional law adopted by the Assembly of the Serbian People of Bosnia and Herzegovina and promulgated on 28 Feb 1992 (Serbian plural: Vršioci dužnosti predsjednika Republike | Вршиоци дужности предсједника Републике).
  2. Karadžić transferred the functions of President of the Republic to Vice President Plavšić by an order effective 30 Jun 1996. However, he formally remained in office until 19 Jul 1996, when he, Plavšić, President of the Republic of Serbia Slobodan Milošević, and others signed a joint statement in Belgrade terminating his functions.
  3. A decision by the High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, approved on 5 Mar 1999, purportedly removed the President of the Republic of Srpska from office. However, Poplašen refused to comply and continued to exercise his functions. The government of the Republic recognized the decision as valid and took measures to prevent Poplašen from carrying out his duties. On 26 Jan 2000, Vice-President of the Republic Šarović formally communicated to the National Assembly his consent to assume the functions of President of the Republic.
  4. After the death of Milan Jelić, the National Assembly passed a "provisional resolution" on 1 Oct 2007, entrusting the President of the National Assembly Igor Radojičić (Игор Радојичић) with certain "urgent" functions of the President of the Republic. The resolution was vetoed by the Council of Peoples (Vijeće naroda | Вијеће народа) and referred to the Constitutional Court, which ruled on 27 Nov 2007 that the provisional resolution did not violate the Constitution. However, the court's decision never entered into force, and the office of President of the Republic remained vacant until Kuzmanović's inauguration.
  5. Also in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
