31 Jan 1946 the name of the state is defined in accordance with Art. 2 of the Constitution of Yugoslavia of 1946 (effective upon passing by the Constituent Assembly of Yugoslavia on 31 Jan 1946 as required by Art. 139 of the Constitution) (Yugoslavia Official Gazette–Serbian edition, No. 10, 1 Feb 1946, pp. 74-94)

8 Apr 1992 the name of the state is changed in accordance with a regulation adopted by the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 8 Apr 1992 with immediate effect (Bosnia and Herzegovina Official Gazette, No. 1, 9 Apr 1992, p. 1)
  1. The resolution was approved by the State Anti-fascist Council of National Liberation at the session held between 21:00 1 Jul 1944 and 05:30 2 Jul 1944. The printed version was dated 1 Jul 1944. Full title: Odluka Zemaljskog antifašističkog vijeća narodnog oslobođenja Bosne i Hercegovine o odobrenju rada bosansko-hercegovačke delegacije na drugom zasjedanju AVNOJ-a dana 29—30 novembra 1943 (Одлука Земаљског антифашистичког вијећа народног ослобођења Босне и Херцеговине о одобрењу рада босанско-херцеговачке делегације на другом засједању АВНОJ-а дана 29—30 новембра 1943).
