- The Provincial Convention resolved (14 Aug 1775) that the Council of Safety will "continue ... until the next convention, and no longer, and that they render an account of their proceedings, and always be subject to the control of the convention." The Council held its last meeting on 21 Oct 1775 before the Convention met on 7 Dec 1775.
- The Council of Safety held its inaugural meeting on 29 Aug 1775 when its members took the oath of office. At the next meeting−on 30 Aug 1775−Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer was elected President of the Council.
