[1] A declaration on restoration of independent state passed by the Lietuvos Taryba 16 Feb 1918 was prohibited by occupational authorities and did not have immediate effect.
[2] Also in official use: Lietuvos Respublika (Republic of Lithuania) and Lietuva (Lithuania); the Constitutions of Lithuania routinely refer to the state as Lietuvos Valstybė (Constitution of 1918, amended Constitution of 1919, Constitutions of 1920, 1922, 1928, 1938), Lietuvos Respublika (in one article of the Constitution of 1922, in two articles of the Constitution of 1928, in one article of the Constitution of 1938) and Lietuva (Constitution of 1938).
