Galicia: Presidents of the Xunta: 1978-2024 For the period starting on 21 Jan 1982, the commencement of term of a President of the Xunta is deemed to have started on the day of swearing-in ceremony which follows the election by the Parlamento and appointment by a royal decree issued by the King of Spain.

[1]	Rosón was designated President of the Xunta at a meeting of the members of the Cortes of Spain, representing historical provinces of Galicia, pending the approval of a decree-law instituting the Xunta. He was elected President of the Xunta at is session of 11 Apr 1978. Formal inauguration followed on 18 Apr 1978.
