[1] Immediately following the submission of the resignation by the President (27 Apr 1960), Heo Jeong assumed the functions of head of state in accordance with Art. 52 of the Constitution of 1948 (as amended 29 Nov 1954) in his capacity as (senior) State Councillor presiding in the Cabinet; he was confirmed in office as Acting President, State Councillor in accordance with the Presidential Order No. 1571 passed by the Cabinet 30 Apr 1960. The resignation of I Seungman took effect upon the acceptance by the National Assembly (Gukoe | 국회 | 國會) on 3 May 1960.
